Tablas Creek Vineyard Patelin de Tablas Blanc 2022

The 2022 Patelin de Tablas Blanc displays a beautifully balanced nose with bright citrus fruit from Grenache Blanc that mingles with Viognier's stone fruit and white flowers, enhanced by earthy petrichor and peppery spice. On the palate, the Viognier component shines with luscious stone fruit and lemon custard flavours, while the Grenache Blanc provides persistent chalky minerality and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and complex, revealing white grapefruit and jasmine notes with a distinctive briny sea spray salinity.

All grape varieties were whole bunch pressed and fermented in stainless-steel tanks to preserve their bright and crisp aromatics. Only indigenous yeasts were used. After fermentation, the wines were racked and blended, and bottled in May 2023.

The 2022 vintage marked the third consecutive year of drought, though early-season rainfall supported vine health despite cluster counts dropping 15%. Frost events in April and May further reduced yields, while a cool early summer gave way to record-breaking heat in August and September, accelerating both veraison and harvest timing. The extremely low yields resulted in concentrated flavours, exceptional texture, and intense fruit character.
