The Art & Legacy of Barros Port
With over a century of winemaking excellence since its founding in 1913, Barros is globally celebrated as a premier producer of aged Tawny and rare Colheita Ports.
Unlike traditional vintage Ports that mature in the bottle, Colheita Ports are single-vintage Ports aged in oak casks for a minimum of seven years—and often much longer—before being bottled to order. During this extended barrel aging, a significant volume of wine naturally evaporates (a phenomenon known as the “angel’s share”). While this process reduces total yield, it intensely concentrates the flavors, creating the signature smoothness, complexity, and world-class quality Barros is famous for.
