No one calls Ernst Loosen by his real first name. Throughout the wine world, the top winemaker from Bernkastel is known simply as "Ernie." When he was a young archaeology student and caught the wine bug, Ernie certainly had no idea that he would one day become one of Germany's most famous winemakers and a significant ambassador for Mosel Riesling. His estate includes renowned vineyards such as Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Ürziger Würzgarten, and Erdener Treppchen. Many old vines, some of them ungrafted, form the basis for outstanding terroir wines that rank among Germany's finest in all price ranges.
