TASTING NOTES
An impressive rum from Angostura, made using the Trinidadian distillery's continuous multi-column still and aged in charred bourbon casks. This aged rum pays homage to a historic blend developed by the Fernandes family in the 1800s.
The name 1919 is also a tribute to a bit of Trinidadian rum history – following a catastrophic fire at its government rum bond in 1932, hundreds of rather charred casks of the Fernandes family blended rum that had been filled in 1919 were salvaged from the ashes, resulting in an unrepeatable batch that is reported to have been exquisite!
The nose is rich and spiced. Cola, toasty oak. Vanilla spice and caramel. Plenty of ginger and molasses. Juicy and sweet palate with allspice, caramel, creamy vanilla and molasses. It finishes on vanilla cream, rounded and spiced.
