Amber, tawny, with brownish hues and greenish tinges colour. Wine of great aromatic complexity where wild honey and hints of dried fruits such as almonds and figs stand out, and with hints of spices. It has great freshness and elegance, ending slightly dry but with great persistence.
Colheita Ports are wines from a single harvest, chosen from the best that were produced in that year. A Colheita will be aged throughout its life in oak casks. The wine will evolve slowly in colour, aroma and flavour, as a result of the micro oxygenation that takes place through the wood. Although they may develop well in the bottle (in the absence of oxygen), they are usually bottled shortly before release to the market, with an indication of the year of bottling.
