This is not a coffee liqueur, but an espresso liqueur, therefore two different types of coffee beans must be used. On top of this, Galliano Ristretto is the only espresso liqueur made using a perfect balance between the strong, bitter Robusta beans from Kenya and India blended together with the creamy chocolate Arabica coffee beans from Brazil and Colombia.
A Ristretto , or a “corto”, is a very short espresso. Originally a ristretto was made by pulling a hand press faster than usual. This resulted in a reduction of caffeine in proportion to the coffee oils. This results in a fuller flavoured coffee, with less bitterness. Galliano created this stunning coffee liqueur using Arabica and Robusta beans to capture the essence of these full-bodied, less bitter Ristretto coffees. It’s delicious.
