Rose Wines

There is a moment, somewhere between pouring and the first sip, when a rosé wine earns its reputation. The colour shifts in the glass - from the palest onion-skin to a confident salmon - and already you know something about where it came from and how it was made. Our Wines collection spans styles and continents, but rosé holds a particular place in it: versatile enough for a Tuesday evening, poised enough for a special table.

The first sip of a Rose Wine on a warm evening - pale copper in the glass, a whisper of strawberry and crushed stone on the nose - is one of wine's quiet pleasures. From sun-drenched Provence to the Atlantic coast of Portugal, our collection captures that moment in every bottle. Explore rosés that reward curiosity as much as they refresh.

Rose Wines - From Pale Blush to Deeply Expressive

We have sourced across France, Portugal, Spain, Italy, England, South Africa, and Australia to bring together rosés that genuinely deserve your attention. The French contingent leans dry and mineral - think the bone-dry directness of French Rosé Wines from the Provence coastline, where Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvèdre are pressed briefly and bottled with purpose. The pink wine from Iberia brings a different energy: the Portuguese expressions carry Atlantic freshness, while Spain's rosados from Navarra and beyond show riper stone fruit with lovely textural weight.

Rosé Wine Styles Across Every Occasion

One of the joys of building a rosé collection is how wide the style spectrum really is. At one end, you have the fruity rosé wine - exuberant, crowd-pleasing, soft in tannin and generous with red fruit - the kind that works effortlessly at a garden party or alongside a table of antipasti. At the other, you have structured, mineral-driven expressions that sit comfortably beside a serious meal. Our Dry Rosé Wines are where many of those more serious bottles live, while those who prefer a touch of sweetness will find options in our Off Dry Rosé Wines range.

For those who love the theatre of bubbles, rose wine sparkling styles are represented too - the category has never been more exciting, with English producers alongside Italian and Spanish expressions jostling for space. Browse our Sparkling Rosé Wines for bottles that suit a celebration without requiring one.

  • Grilled sea bass or whole bream: The saline mineral edge of a Provence-style rosé mirrors the clean ocean character of the fish - neither overwhelms the other, and both are elevated.
  • Charcuterie, rillettes, and cured ham: The gentle acidity of a dry rosé wine cuts through fat beautifully, while red fruit notes echo the richness of cured meats. A classic pairing that never grows tired.
  • Spiced dishes and North African-inspired cooking: A slightly fuller, fruit-forward rosé - think a Portuguese or Spanish rosado - has enough presence to stand up to harissa lamb or slow-cooked tagine without disappearing into the spice.
  • Soft cheeses and summer salads: A crisp, unoaked rosé alongside a Niçoise or a plate of burrata is one of the simplest pleasures the season offers. The wine's acidity does the heavy lifting.
  • As an aperitivo: Before anything else arrives at the table, a well-chilled glass of pale pink wine sets a tone that no other wine quite manages - relaxed, convivial, and quietly anticipatory.

What Makes Our Rosé Wine Selection Different

We are a small, independent shop based in Frome, Somerset, and we choose every bottle ourselves. That means you will find wines here that do not appear on supermarket shelves - producers whose vineyards we know, whose winemaking decisions we respect, and whose wines we have tasted before committing to a single case. The rose wine brands we stock are chosen for quality and character, not for label recognition or marketing budget.

Our Portuguese Rosé Wines are a particular strength - Portugal's Atlantic-influenced regions produce rosés of real freshness and individuality that remain underappreciated outside the country. Similarly, our Spanish Rosé Wines include rosados that challenge the assumption that Iberia is purely a red wine destination. And for those curious about what English viticulture is producing, our English Rosé Wines showcase a domestic scene quietly transforming itself.

The rosé rosé wine moment has been building for years, and while fashion has played its part, the best bottles in this collection are here because of what is in the glass, not what is on Instagram. We are particularly proud of our South African and Australian expressions - the Australian Rosé Wines in our range bring warmth and generosity of fruit that suits those who enjoy a rounder, more textured style.

Rose Wine as a Gift - and How to Choose

A bottle of rosé wine is one of the most universally welcomed gifts in our repertoire. It signals thoughtfulness without intimidation - approachable enough for a guest who is not a wine enthusiast, yet interesting enough for one who is. If you are buying as a gift, our White Wine Gifts and broader gifts for wine lovers pages offer curated ideas, but a single well-chosen rosé, particularly a Provence-style pale blush or a structured Portuguese expression, rarely misses the mark.

Serve your rosé chilled but not ice-cold - somewhere around 10–12°C preserves the aromatics that make each bottle interesting. A standard white wine glass works well; the wider bowl of a Burgundy-style glass opens up more complex expressions. Most rosés in this collection are at their best young and fresh, drunk within one to three years of the vintage, though certain fuller-bodied examples - particularly from warmer southern climates - reward a year or two of patience.

Whether you are discovering rosé for the first time, seeking a familiar style with better provenance, or looking for something genuinely surprising in a glass you thought you already knew, our collection exists to answer all three. We have done the tasting and the travelling, so you can choose with confidence.
