Warre’s Vintage Port 1997
TASTING NOTES
This port has a very deep crimson colour. Rich fresh herbal aromas of gum cistus. Tastes of vibrant blackberry flavours, very spicy with an abundance of tannins and sweetness conveying enormous complexity of flavours. Powerful combination of freshness, elegance and a long firm finish.
Warre’s is the oldest British port shipper, having been founded over 300 years ago in 1670. Through the centuries Warre’s has established an unparalleled reputation for the quality of its ports. The firm today is still an independent family company, owned and managed by the Symington family.
The fine reputation that Warre’s enjoys worldwide is in large measure due to the exceptional quality of its vintage ports. These are produced only in outstanding years and are blended from the wines produced in some of the finest quintas in the Douro valley, including the magnificent Quinta da Cavadinha near Pinhao.
All vintage port throws a sediment as it has been aged in bottle. It is therefore essential to decant this wine. Store the bottle lying down.
