Marfil Alella Nura Negra 2023

Intense black color with bluish reflections. Intense nose of red and black fruit, with hints of smoke and aromatic herbs. Wide mouth, fleshy and delicious. The grapes come from our own vineyards where we work in an ecological way (no herbicides, no insecticides, no inorganic fertilizers). In the winery, work is done with minimal intervention and with minimal doses of sulphur, and responsible persons who ensure the correct evolution of the wine and the food safety of the consumers. After more than 20 years at the head of Alella Vinícola, Xavi Garcia, co-owner and oenologist of the historic Alella winery, starts a new wine project that goes beyond wines laietans. Celler Marfil is the name of the new company that markets the wines that the winemaker will produce in Alella and in other wine-growing regions, such as Menorca where he has been collaborating with a white wine since 2013. Xavi currently has 3 hectares of vines planted in the south of the island. Malvasia, Macabeu and Syrah are the three varieties chosen to produce, for now, a white and a red wine. "This is the second harvest and the first that we vinified. We transported the harvested grapes and vinified them to the Alella winery, the wines that will go on the market at the beginning of 2023 will not be able to carry a geographical indication. The vineyard is located on a soil originating from carbonate rock, with excellent conditions for producing high quality grapes. We decided to drive the vineyard in the shape of a vase to be able to control much better the management of water and the vigor of the plant. The climatic conditions on the island, much more extreme than in Alella, have just given the wine a great personality".
