Bodegas Roda Roda Reserva Rioja 2017
TASTING NOTES
Made with grapes from old low yielding bush vines aimed to obtain fruit with a real richness and depth. This wine has been aged for 16 months in French oak, 50% new, and has had 20 months cellaring in bottle. The colour is an almost Burgundian red, but the nose has intense red cherry aromas with a subtle spiciness. On the palate it’s smooth with freshness to the ripe cherry flavours, elegant spices, and fresh, ripe tannins.
Complex, smooth and very rewarding, it would suit roast game down to a tee.
Founded in 1987 by Mario Rotllant and Carmen Daurella, Bodegas Roda is part of the new generation of Rioja producers reshaping the region’s wine styles. Moving away from traditional oak-influenced wines, their focus is on crafting deep, complex wines that appeal to modern tastes. They take a meticulous approach to both viticulture and winemaking, which shines through in their reliably expressive and refined wines. Bodegas Roda has carved out a niche for itself with wines that balance tradition and innovation, offering a fresh perspective on what Rioja can be.
