The fruit for this wine was carefully sourced from a selection of vineyards in the Great Southern region in Western Australia. The vines are planted in granite laterite soils at a density of 2,020 per hectare and are planted on their own rootstocks using clones 777, MV6, 114 and 115. The fruit was fermented using a combination of wild fermentation and selected yeasts. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was matured in a selection of one to three year old French oak barrels, for a period of six months. The nose shows graphite, minerals and juicy black cherries. A hint of spicy oak plays a supporting role.
